Origin, "zibeline" meaning fur or pelt of a sable. Heavy woolen fabric having a long hairy nap laid down on the surface. Stock-or yarn-dyed; fulled, napped, brushed; durable, depending upon quality; hairs tend to wear off the surface.  Uses: coats and suits. Weave twill.
